For the Fair

Remember one of these. Well for some of us it’s still a scary ride. Actually I went to an Easter Show here in Sydney last weekend. Although I used to dread writing essays on such trips, every time we came from one, now I feel I could write pages n kill someone of boredom. That’s the reason I will not be writing my experience but some things I thought are necessary for people to remember when they go to similar amusement places. Yes you are right I’m giving you all a checklist to refer (if you want to).

Internet-But it’s the internet era, so start looking for valid sites, once you have decided to take the trip, that offer you cheaper tickets to the show or spots. Try looking up prior what all are of your interest so that you can cover them all in a day without rushing.

Sunscreen-Now in countries with a thin ozone layer like Australia, USA never forget to go out of the house without applying sunscreen lotion with a high SPF. Now for all those guys thinking this as girlish, please think again because tanning has been scientifically proven to cause cancer.

Choice of clothes-Well the best is where jeans/trousers since you will be thinking of all the nerve wrecking rides that throw you in all directions. Next when it comes to a choice of shirts everything’s fine for guys, but for all those girls who wouldn’t like to roam around wet (after a splashy ride) remember to wear something synthetic and opaque :) For all those who want to show off their figures there’s no restriction. You can avoid wearing accessories like long chains, scarf etc that may be loose and can fly off the moment you are on a ride. You can avoid wearing sports shoes since it isn’t really fun walking heavy footed. Try out sandals or just comfy slip-on.

Money-Most of these places now accept cards but it’s safest to have some cash for immediate costs like entry tickets and food.

Backpack- Well I’m referring to a show in your city, so we don’t need a luggage with clothes but a small bag/backpack, preferably leather/waterproof, that can contain the necessary items. Even though it’s not really safe to take cameras in fear of damaging it, who in the world wants to miss capturing those screaming, scared, exciting faces. If you are having a hot sunny day don’t forget your caps/hats and sunglasses, you get really horrible headaches once all the fun is over. These places are made by no fools, so remember to carry your own water bottles if you don’t want to land up spending all your cash to keep yourself hydrated. Always keep some wipes/tissues to ensure you don’t look a zoo escapee when you are traveling back home. Also keep medication if you use any regularly or at least keep pills for headache or a bad stomach. For the ladies they can add to this list all their makeup kit as per their usage. But remember we are going to have fun and can’t leave the bags so try keeping it light.

So prepare a little and have a great and safe day without grumbling about the heat or wet clothes or looking like a disaster :).

Note: This is a list for a group without kids, will add on that once I have one. And feel free to add anything important I may have missed out.
